Caricature

A caricature is a rendered image showing the features of its subject in a simplified or exaggerated way through sketching, pencil strokes, or other artistic drawings (compare to: cartoon). Caricatures can be either insulting or complimentary, and can serve a political purpose, be drawn solely for entertainment, or for a combination of both. Caricatures of politicians are commonly used in newspapers and news magazines as political cartoons, while caricatures of movie stars are often found in entertainment magazines. In literature, a caricature is a distorted representation of a person in a way that exaggerates some characteristics and oversimplifies others. - Wikipedia

Examples

There are plenty of examples of caricature on "South Park", an American cartoon comedy series based on the town of South Park in Colorado. The series follows four young boys and their daily adventures in South Park.

The series periodically has guest stars that resemble real celebrities; Barbara Streisand, Rod Stewart, Lorde, and lots of other celebrities are noted to have appeared.

The creators of South Park are Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Notes

South Park also uses parody and satire in their portrayal of characters, often performing absurd and exaggerated actions that are completely out of the character of the celebrity or person being portrayed. Therein lies a lot of the humour of the show.
